A strong first team Drumconrath start the home game off strongly setting a tone for the game to follow kicking a solid score from the throw in. Trim picking up the slack quickly to clean up and Conor McKeown kicks Trim’s first. Sweeney hits again to punish from the following kick out and keeping the pressure on a mark in quick succession sets Sweeney in again almost instantly.

A brilliant spell of pressure from the Trim forwards gets Foxy running and he slots over for his first. With Conor using his pace he forces a 45 from the keeper and Foxy getting himself under the dropping ball calmly places over the bar again. A big kick for Drumconrath from outside the arc closes the gap between the 2 but no pressure on Trim as Eoin McGrath opens up the stride to add his name to the score sheet. Some brilliant defensive work keeps the Trim lads ahead as the forwards struggle to punish in front of goal. A lapse in discipline sees Daniel Murray sent to dugout for the remainder of the game. A struggling Trim team sees themselves hold the lead for a short time. Drumconrath punishing the 14 Trim men as they slowly take the lead. Going into the half 3 points behind but playing well for the weakened mid field with each player helping to pick up the space. A brilliant worked team score sets Eoin up for the final kick to get the score board moving from Trim again.

A brilliant save from the keeper stops a promising Trim attack who have found their groove in the second half pushing pressure on the Drumconrath defence with Eoin claiming another score for the Trim lads causing many problems inside the opposition half. An unfortunate injury sees Conor McKeown carried from the field and we are all wishing him a speedy recovery. Drumconrath putting in the hard hits as Trim struggle to catch up on the scoreboard and on the pitch. The Trim lads never dropping the head and continuing the push regardless of the opposition’s dubious plays and representing their jersey with pride.

Eoin McGrath delivered a masterclass performance using his experience with great play to encourage and lift his younger teammates. Throughout the match his ability to read the game allowed him to be a constant presence across the pitch, popping up in crucial areas to support both defence and attack.

Trim can take a lot of positives from this match with a young second team coming up against Drumconrath’s first and only team. Many of the younger players are getting valuable experience and are showing up well with Championship just around the corner.
