It was a day to remember for the Trim girls as they delivered a stunning all-round performance, showcasing skill, determination, and togetherness in a thrilling match that ended in a well-deserved victory. In a must-win game the girls knew what was awaiting them. Every player on the pitch played their part in a win that was as much about unity and work ethic as it was about individual brilliance.
From the first whistle, the team made their intentions clear, playing with confidence, pace, and precision. Emma H opened the scoring, calmly slotting over a point to settle early nerves and set the tone. Soon after, Shona stepped up to convert a free with pinpoint accuracy, giving the team an early edge.
Blackhall, to their credit, responded with a point of their own, but Shona was on hand again to restore the cushion with another fine effort. The early exchanges showed real composure and resilience, with the team refusing to let Blackhall build any momentum. When Blackhall added a free, Ellen M responded immediately, firing over a brilliant point from open play - a moment that truly lifted the side.
Momentum started to swing decisively in our favour. Ellen M added another score, followed closely by excellent points from Emma H and Blathnaid, as the team began to dominate across all areas of the pitch. Though Blackhall found a reply, Ellen M struck again, showing her consistency and calm under pressure.
Shona then converted another free before a quick Blackhall puck-out led to a sharp point in response. But the highlight of the half came moments later — Emma o Neill wide awake from a mistake from the Blackhall puc out sends Shona, in top form, breaking through and striking a superb goal, waking the home crowd and giving the team a commanding lead. Points from Emma H and Amy Boyle capped a first-half masterclass, full of energy, sharp passing, and smart decision-making.
HT Trim - 1-11 Blackhall - 0-03
The second half was all about control and game management. Blackhall opened the scoring, but Shona White answered back immediately, underlining the team’s refusal to give ground. Blackhall continued to push, but two more quick-fire points from Shona kept the scoreboard ticking and the pressure on.
Defensively, the team were disciplined and organised, cutting out threats early and transitioning smoothly into attack. The midfield worked tirelessly, winning key battles and linking play with intelligence and intent.
Emma H continued her excellent game with another point, before Shona - unstoppable throughout - added yet another to her tally. The finishing touches came from Emma O’Neill, who slotted over a fine point to close out the match in style.
A very special mention to our Senior Camóg, Hayley Kennedy, who brought along baby Tadhg to his first camogie game. Welcome to your Camogie Family, Tadhg! Sending all our love and warm wishes from CLG Átha Troim
