Div 5 Premier football Rd 4 Trim 3-06 to Moynalty 2-13

Trim’s Division 5 Premier football team brave effort to secure their first victory in the competition against Moynalty’s strong first team in a lively contest in Trim on Sunday 14th April. In the end they fell short on 3-6 to 2-13 scoreline. They will rue the fact that they conceded 2-2 as a result of breakdowns in their own play at crucial times in the game.

Playing with the wind in the first half Trim pressed from the throw in but a well marshalled Moynalty defence made it difficult for them. They notched up three points in the opening 12 minutes through two Daniel Murray frees and a brilliant long range effort from the very impressive Gary Fleming.

Moynalty responded well with two points before Neily Heffernan scored a great point following a superb long range pass from Mark Murray. Moynalty reduced the gap to the minimum with a 17th minute point to which Patrick Quigley replied with a well taken point from well out the field four minutes later. Moynalty finished the half stronger with three points to a further point from a Daniel Murray free.
