🔴⚾ MATCH REPORT 🔴⚾ Camogie Div5 Semifinal: Trim 2-04 v Navan O Mahonys 1-04 🔴⚾
In hot sunny conditions, the Div5 semifinal started at midday on Sunday, the 19th of May, in Dunganny.
O Mahony’s opened the scoring with a good point from play before Lucy Leonard equalised with a well taken point after ten minutes. Defences were dominating in what was a tight opening quarter when Chantel Massey seized an opportunity when she pulled on a loose ball in the box to score Trims first goal of the game just before the first water break.
Early in the second quarter, Sarah O'Connor split the posts with a well taken point. Ellen Birmingham came on as a sub after fifteen and made an immediate impact by getting two great points in quick succession. O Mahony’s ended the first half with a point, leaving Trim ahead by 1.4 to 0.2 at the break.
Half Time Trim 1-04 Navan O'Mahonys 0-02
A goal from O'Mahonys on the resumption of the second half from a long-range ball found its way to the net, bringing O’Mahony’s right back into the match.
Trim did respond, and we're unfortunate not to get a couple of goals before Chantel scored her second goal of the game after a great long range pass in to the Navan danger area. Navan added two points before the much needed second water break.
Both sides remained scoreless for the last fifteen minutes of the game, with Trims defence dominating the Navan forward line. The game ended with a brilliant win for Trim with a score of 2-4 to 1-4.
Trim will look forward to the final and will take a lot of positives from a strong battling semi-final performance.
