🔴 In a tightly fought U13A Camogie Plate Final, Trim emerged with a great win against a strong Kilmessan side. With a few tactical changes to the team that had narrowly beaten the same opposition earlier in the week - all went to plan in the first half. Against the wind some direct running from Millie McCabe and Elise Flanagan led to 3 superbly taken goals from Aoife Creevey, Lucia Kelliher and Katie Regan that set a great foundation. Some brilliant goal line clearances from Cadhla Barry, ably assisted by Kate Conlon and Tara Ryan helped repel Kilmessan and limit them to 2 points at half time. The Trim half back line of Katie Dixon, Shona McCaffrey and Sadbh O'Neill helped stop some dangerous Kilmessan moves.
⚾ Into the second half and a determined Kilmessan came out of the blocks with a quick point followed by a goal. A great block by Tasmin Haughey step up a free for Trim that Katie Regn converted to a goal with an excellent strike of the ball. Our inside forwards of Heather Sloan, Claire McMoreland, Grainne Garry, Isobel Byrne and Aine Hanrahan kept the work rate up and let nothing come out easy from Kilmessan. While Kilmessan managed a second goal and a third point, frantic and brilliant defending by Cliona Cooke and Willow Smith Weir ensured Kilmessan scored no more and Trim would be victorious on a score line of 4-0 to 2-3.
🔴 The coaching team of Ger Flanagan, Peadar McCaffrey, Colin Byrne, Mary Barry and FLO Barbara McCaffrey are extremely proud of this group of girls who all demonstrated a massive amount of skill, commitment and hard work throughout the match, and brought lessons from the training ground into match situation. Thanks to Kilmessan for a great game and to the referee who did a excellent job. A massive thank you also to our division 4 girls Aisling Canty, Zoe May Cashell, Saoirse Barry and Katelyn McLoughlin who stepped up in our hours of need during the league. Special mention to Caoimhe Farrell who could not be with us today (enjoying her holidays) especially after the massive performance she had against Kilmessan in the last outing. And finally thanks to all the parents for their continued support and encouragement of the girls.
