Tuairisc Cluiche - Peil na mBan Áth Troim v Bhulf Tón
A tough game in extremely tough conditions left too much for Áth Troim to do before the final whistle.
The Junior C panel traveled in strong numbers to Kilberry last Thursday evening for their second round game of the Championship. While it was fantastic to see so many of our second team make their way across to the far side of Navan, in miserable weather, it wasn’t to be their night as they came up against a strong Wolfe Tones side. This recently relegated Junior B team showed they mean to do everything they can to regain their spot in the higher division.
The first half began in a drizzle which grew heavier as the game progressed. From the start both teams found it challenging to control the ball. Trim seemed to find the going the toughest. Some early scores over the bar for the home side set the tone for the game. Trim did their best to respond, working hard in midfield to get the ball up the field. The Wolfe Tone blanket defence worked well to keep them out and a number of well placed goals at the other end left the visitors trailing at the break having only put 2 points on the board.
As with previous games Trim put in a stronger second half performance, but they had left themselves with too much to do and their efforts were not enough to catch the Wolfe Tones lead from the first half. The home side came away with a deserved win on the night. This young Trim team will take away a lot of learnings from the game as they regroup and set their sights on their final round away to local rivals and neighbours, Na Fianna.
A shout out once more to the members of the squad who made their adult championship debut’s on the night. The future of adult Peil na mBan in Trim is looking bright as these players come through the under age groups and begin their adult football journey.
