Trim welcomed neighbours Kildalkey to St Loman’s Park on Saturday evening for the fifth round of the Senior B Camogie Championship. The game started at a frenetic pace with no quarter given by either side in the opening minutes of the game. Playing with the wind in the first half, it was Kildalkey who got the first point of the game in the second minute. Trim responded with two quick points from Shona White. Then in the eighth minute after a great move by the Trim girls Shona scored a great goal. Kildalkey responded with a goal of their own in the twelfth minute to leave a point between the teams. The wind was proving to be a big benefit to the away side and Kildalkey took full advantage of it with two quick goals to lead by five points in the twentieth minute. Trim kept on battling for the last 10 minutes of the half and were rewarded with a point from a free to narrow the deficit to four points at half-time.
Half-time : Trim 1-03 Kildalkey 3-01
Within the first two minutes of the second half Trim narrowed the gap with two well taken points from Amy Boyle & Blathnaid Hughes. Against a strong wind Kildalkey were finding it hard to get out of their own half and the Trim players took full advantage and after some intense pressure the home side scored two great goals from Amy and Shona. Kildalkey responded with a well taken point to trail by three points in the seventeenth minute. Trim then took control of the game in the next three minutes with two goals from Leighann Massey and Amy. Trim were relentless right until the end of the game and added another goal from Leighann and two well taken points from Alex Donoghue.
The reward for this young Trim team will be a first Senior Semi-final in which they will meet Blackhall Gaels on the 6th of October.
