Congratulations to our U15 Camógs for their outstanding performance at the John West Regional Féile na nGael!
In the vibrant atmosphere of Féile and under the beautiful sunshine at St Loman’s Park, the girls demonstrated their incredible camogie skills and indomitable spirit.
Competing against strong teams from Armagh, Offaly, and Kildare, they reached the Cup Semi-Final. Although they narrowly lost to the formidable St. Brigid's team from Laois, who went on to win the Cup final, the girls' effort and sportsmanship were commendable. This experience against these stronger teams stood in good stead to the girls who a week later went on to win their League Sheild Final.
The day was a true celebration of community and sport, with our Club hosting teams from Waterford, Antrim, Laois, Armagh, and Kildare, along with their families and supporters.
A shoutout to our own Senior Player, Gráinne Ní Laoire who was one of the four referees officiating over the eighteen games of Camogie played over the day. A great achievement for Gráinne to represent her Club at this level and a testament to the acknowledgement of her refereeing skills. Gráinne is becoming a familiar figure not just playing but refereeing across the County.
Whilst Gráinne was busy on the pitches, Eliz must have walked every inch of the grounds and more producing photographic memories for all teams, from team photos to action shots throughout the day. The albums can be seen on our webpage and have been shared with the visiting teams.
A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated volunteers, from Vicky, our groundsman, Colin our MC, Caroline Event Manager, Ger Pitch Co-ordinator and to everyone who helped with parking, pitches, the Siopa, refreshments, and 50/50 sellers. Your hard work showcased our Club's facilities beautifully, earning us positive feedback from attendees on the day and messages to the Camogie County Board.
To the Camogie Committee who put the whole plan and day together working behind the scenes in the weeks leading up to the event. Well done to everyone involved!
