What a performance from the Trim girls in the final round of the Junior Camogie Championship!
Trim came away with a brilliant win over Na Fianna after a tremendous battle from start to finish. Every player fought for every ball, supported one another and never gave up, with the victory securing top spot in the table and a guaranteed place in the Championship semi-final!
From the opening whistle, Trim showed great determination. Katie O’Brien made some fantastic runs, while Clíona was superb throughout the first half with great tackles and important clearances.
Sarah caused plenty of problems with her excellent runs and got herself on the scoresheet, while Stacey put in a huge performance with brilliant attacking play and some super blocks.
The fight shown by Nessa and Deirbhle was outstanding, battling hard for possession and refusing to give Na Fianna anything easy. Deirbhile also made her mark on the scoreboard in the first half, finding the back of the net with a brilliant goal.
Nessa chipped in with lovely points, while up front Sharon and Chantel worked tirelessly, put the Na Fianna defence under constant pressure and both knocked over lovely points for Trim.
The second half saw Trim raise the intensity even further. Aoife O’Brien fought for absolutely every ball throughout the game, setting the tone for a Trim side that simply refused to stop battling.
Nessa and Sarah O’Connor continued to work incredibly hard, while Mary produced a massive block at a crucial moment to deny what looked like a certain goal.
Chloe also scored a fantastic goal when a ball was lobbed in and, with her back to goal, she pulled on it over her head and rattled the net! A definite contender for Goal of the Season suberb instinctive play from Chloe.
But this victory was about the entire team. Every player fought, tackled, blocked, ran and worked for one another right until the final whistle.
A fantastic team performance and a brilliant way to finish the group stages. Trim have now topped the table and secured their place in the championship semi-final!
